Elwood Nixes Peanut Butter from School Menu
Nut butter recall expanded to include anything manufactured after March 1, 2010.

Elwood School District recently announced that peanut butter will not be on the lunch menu until further notice because of a massive recall, expanded on Oct. 5.
The FDA confirmed the presence of Salmonella in nut butters made by Sunland, Inc in the beginning of October. A Sept. 24 recall has since been expanded to include all nut butters manufactured in the Sunland peanut butter plant after March 1, 2010, with a "best by" date of March 1, 2011 or later. A full recall list is attached.
The CDC reports a total of 35 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Bredeney from 19 states.
