Elwood's Trailblazing Flag Football Athletes Earn Postseason Awards
The first-year flag football team won the Suffolk County championship. "I am extremely proud and blessed," their coach said."

ELWOOD, NY — Three Elwood-John H. Glenn High School students — all members of the school’s stellar first-year flag football team that won the Suffolk County championship — were honored on Aug. 3 at an awards brunch hosted by the National Football Foundation and the Suffolk County Flag Football Coaches Association to recognize the top Suffolk County student-athletes in the sport, the Elwood School District announced.
Molly Brignati and Nora Truncale both earned All-County honors, showcasing exceptional skill, leadership and dedication on the field, while Nicole Saviksky received the prestigious All-Academic award for achieving the highest GPA on the team while excelling as a key contributor on the field.
"These three trailblazers not only represent the strength and talent of our inaugural team, but also set the standard for future seasons of girls flag football at John Glenn," coach Craig Ash said. "As a young coach starting a brand-new program, I am extremely proud and blessed to have been a part of their journey, on and off the field. Watching their growth this season, both as athletes and as individuals, has been an inspiring experience for me. This season was about more than wins and awards, it was about establishing a foundation and demonstrating how dedication, teamwork and heart can create something truly special."
