Fire Guts Pool House At Northport Condo Complex

BREAKING: The fire occurred on Saturday afternoon, fire officials say.

Firefighters battled a blaze at a pool house in a Northport condominium complex on Saturday afternoon.

According to fire officials, the Northport Fire Department responded to the incident at the Harbour Point at Northport development to find the pool house fully involved in the fire at 12:40 p.m.

Firefighters quickly attacked the blaze and stopped it from spreading to the attached clubhouse, bringing it under control within 20 minutes.

The fire damage was contained to the pool house while the clubhouse sustained some smoke and water damage.

No injuries were reported.

The fire appears to be accidental, officials say. The blaze is under investigation by the Suffolk Police Arson Squad, Northport Police and Town of Huntington Fire Marshal

About 50 firefighters responded to the scene with four engines and two ambulances. An additional engine responded from the East Northport Fire Department and the Centerport Fire Department provided a Rapid Intervention Team. Suffolk County Fire-Rescue Coordinators also provided assistance. All units were under the command of Chief Brad Wine, supported by Assistant Chiefs John Jacobsen and Dennis Sheridan.
