Power to Feed Long Island was created by PSEG Long Island in 2021 as a partnership with Island Harvest to help support Long Islanders facing food insecurity at a time when the coronavirus pandemic and rising inflation are straining the inventories of local food banks.

The food drives provide Long Islanders with nearby locations to donate food that will be distributed by Island Harvest back into their communities. Island Harvest supports dozens of local feeding programs, food pantries and soup kitchens, including Church of the Harvest in Riverhead, We All We Got in Smithtown, Feed my Sheep Food Pantry in Old Westbury, Open Arms and Caring Hearts WeeCare in Uniondale, St. Nicholas Church in West Babylon, Manna Ministries in East Northport and several Salvation Army locations throughout Long Island.
