'They Just Need A Chance': Frankie And Starry Are Northport Adoptable Pets Of The Week
Frankie and Starry, 8 months, became friends. Starry brought Frankie out of his shell and Frankie showed Starry she was more than a mouser.

NORTHPORT, NY — Best friends Frankie and Starry, each around 8 months old, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week.
"Are you shy?" asked Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue. "Do you know what it feels like to meet new people and have that knot in your belly? Well if you do you are not alone — cause Frankie does, too."
Frankie's siblings were adopted together, but Frankie was so scared and nervous, he had to stay behind and went to an "amazing" foster home, Wild said.

Meanwhile, the rescue learned about a kitten named Starry. She was being kept at a house only to be used as a "mouser," Wild said.
"She was so sweet, she just couldn’t do her job and so, we convinced the family to surrender her to us," Wild said. "She went to a wonderful foster home where she met Frankie. They became the best of friends. Starry bringing Frankie out of his shell with her charming personality, and Frankie loving Starry and showing her she was more than just a mouser. Starry finally understood what it felt like to be cared for and loved."

Frankie is the a handsome cat and so gentle, according to Wild.
"Once you gain his trust he will let you pet him and he will sit right next to you," she said. "He loves to be brushed, and play with toys. He loves other cats and gets along with dogs, too."
Starry is beautiful and a love bug, Wild said. She runs up to people, meowing for attention to be pet. She also loves to be brushed and is silly and playful.
"If she doesn’t see Frankie in sight, Starry meows like crazy looking for him," Wild said. "When Starry finds him, then she is content. Starry also loves to sit next to you while watching TV or reading but if you are not there, she will find a furry companion to cuddle up to, including dogs!"
Wild urged people to consider adopting this bonded pair.
"They need patience and love. They have had a few meet and greets. Starry puts on a show. She shows so much love and affection, hoping it is enough for both of them, since Frankie can be shy. So far they have not received even one application."
Wild said that the most unexpected friendships can mean the most, sometimes.
"Frankie and Starry need each other," she said. "Even though Frankie is shy, he is gentle and kind. We know he will come out of his shell in a home especially if he has his best friend by his side. They just need a chance."
You can visit this pair at Petco Commack.

Frankie and Starry are neutered and spayed, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
