Home Depot Employees Pitch in to Help Homeless Veterans
Employees assist General Needs in assembling 140 duffel bags of essential items for homeless veterans.

A team of dedicated employees from several area Home Depot stores recently joined forces with General Needs to assemble duffel bags of essential items for homeless veterans. Their collective effort resulted in packing 140 duffel bags with crucial items such as socks, underwear, towels, and toiletries, which will now be distributed to veterans in need, making a significant difference in their lives.
“We are grateful to Home Depot and their employees for giving up their time to help us provide much needed personal care items to men and women who have served in our military, but now have fallen on hard times,” said Lonnie Sherman, who along with his wife Susan, co-founded General Needs to help an often-underserved segment of our population.
Providing basic personal care items is just one of the many ongoing services that General Needs offers veterans. Since its founding in 2008, the organization has been a steadfast support system, distributing 10,224 boots, 9,029 coats, 55,555 pairs of socks, and 3,300 pillows to needy veterans. In addition, General Needs provides underserved veterans with bedding, furniture, houseware, and appliances. All the products donated by General Needs are new and unused, ensuring the highest quality for our veterans.
