Leg Lamp Lighting Tonight in Northport Village
The local holiday tradition continues at 7 p.m.
A Northport Tradition, the annual leg lamp lighting, which serves as a nod to "A Christmas Story," will take place tonight at Northport Hardware Store (90 Main St.) at 7 p.m.
Hundreds attended last year's event, which started after Billy and Jimmy Reichert, owners of Northport Hardware, found the lamp while cleaning out the store's basement in 2005.
They rustled up a few patrons from to watch an impromptu lighting ceremony, and the Northport tradition was born.
