Man Who Has Dementia, 89, Reported Missing, Is Found OK: Police

The man, who had left his home on Friday afternoon with a German Shepherd, was found OK, police say.

Update 2:10 a.m.: Jorge Villella, 89, of Fort Salonga, who had been reported missing on Friday afternoon, was found on Friday night, unharmed, Suffolk police said.

FORT SALONGA, NY — A silver alert was issued for a missing Fort Salonga man who suffers from dementia, Suffolk police said.

Jorge Villella, 89, left his home, located on Trescott Path, on sometime between 2 and 4 p.m. Friday, police said. Villella and his German Shepherd left in a black Acura RDX with New York State license plate BEX 7354, police said.

Police described Villella as white, 6 feet tall, and 200 pounds. He was wearing an orange fleece, blue jacket and jeans.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on Villella’s location to call 911 or Fourth Squad detectives at 631-854-8452.

Silver Alert is a program implemented in Suffolk County that allows local law enforcement to share information with media outlets about individuals with special needs who have been reported missing.
