Nest On Main In Northport Celebrates 5 Years
The business is set to celebrate with a weekend of raffles, giveaways, treats and more.

NORTHPORT, NY — The Nest on Main has officially been rooted in Northport for five years.
The home goods boutique, at 135 Main St., celebrates five years on Friday. The small business is set to host a weekend of raffles, giveaways, treats, and more.
"We are so grateful to be here at the 5-year mark," owner Donna Moschella told Patch. "It means so much to all of us at Nest to have been so warmly embraced by our amazing and loyal Northport community, and beyond. With the high rate of small businesses failing within the first 5 years, we are so incredibly grateful to be surviving and thriving at the five-year mark."

The most challenging part of the past five years, Moschella said, was "without a doubt" surviving the months-long coronavirus pandemic shutdown in 2020.
"Who could have imagined that two years in, we'd be faced with such a terrible thing that affected so many, both personally and professionally?" Moschella said. "We're so lucky to still be here, and we credit the support of our incredible customers for that. The commitment that people made to shop locally and support the small businesses in town made all the difference, and we are still here today thanks to them."

The Nest on Main was described by Moschella as a nest of small businesses. The market sells home decor, jewelry, grab-and-go food, antiques, painted pieces, American-made furniture, home decor accents, interior design services, skincare, bath-and-body, pottery, flowers, hand-knit blankets, and more. The vast majority of businesses of Nest are women-owned.
"Thanks to the support of so many, our Nest family of small businesses has grown to include over 70 makers and vendors, and evolved into a place where customers can not only shop for beautiful handmade items for their home and lifestyle, but they can gather, create, and have fun at one of our many creative classes and workshops," Moschella said.

The shop offers classes and workshops that are taught by the many merchants who call Nest on Main home. Moschella also encourages small businesses to reach out to her if they are interested in doing a pop-up shop at Nest on Main; as long as their products don't compete with her in-store vendors.
The Nest on Main is also kicking off its Wagons of Wishes Toy Drive. This year, the business will be collecting for the Help Mrs. Claus project, which is helmed by one of the store's "Nesters," Jennifer Scully. A portion of the proceeds of sales from the shop's anniversary weekend will be donated to the charity and the toy drive will run through the end of November.
Each year, Help Mrs. Claus receives anywhere from 160-550 letters to Santa from underprivileged children living in the five boroughs of NYC. The children are all hand-selected by their social workers to participate in this special program.
The not-for-profit organization hand-delivers Christmas gifts to children of all ages.
