The Northport-East Northport UFSD Board of Education has identified four finalists for the position of Superintendent of Schools and will begin conducting the first round of interviews on February 10 at the district’s central administrative offices.
The pool of 28 candidates for the position ranged from building administrators to sitting superintendents. Nearly all of the candidates were from New York. The district’s search consultants (all of whom are district residents and are donating their time and expertise to the district) have communicated to the Board that the recruitment effort returned a pool of candidates that demonstrated good depth and the capability to firmly lead the district in line with Board, staff and community expectations.

“We are moving forward exactly in line with the process that was first established by our consultant group, and we are delighted with the progress to date,” said Board of Education President Julia Binger. “In recent days, the Board has spent a great deal of time preparing for the interviews by learning more about each finalist candidate, synthesizing the data from the community input processes, and creating questions that will spark informative dialogues with each of these worthy professionals.”

There are expected to be several rounds of interviews with the candidates over the next several weeks. While these interviews will be advertised as ‘meetings,’ since a quorum of the Board of Education will be gathered, the interviews are not open to the public.
The process is expected to result in the announcement of the new district leader in April.
