Northport Educator Named 2024 Model Schools Administrator Of The Year

The award honors outstanding administrators who actively contribute to the advancement of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

NORTHPORT, NY — David Storch, chairperson of science, technology and engineering education of the Northport-East Northport School District, was named the 2024 Model Schools Administrator of the Year by Western Suffolk BOCES, the school district announced.

The award honors outstanding administrators who actively contribute to the advancement of science, technology, engineering and mathematics education and technology integration in their school district, according to the release.

"Storch has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the promotion of professional development for teachers and administrators within STEM programs," the district wrote. "Under his visionary leadership, numerous initiatives and training programs have been implemented to
equip our STEM educators with the latest knowledge and skills in the rapidly evolving field of
information technology and technology education."

Storch’s accomplishments include the development of several cutting-edge STEM initiatives, including Elementary STEM Enrichment for All, the GET SMArT Summer Program, K-12 Robotics Leagues, the interdisciplinary Academy of Information Technology, STEM Fairs and Challenges, and an emphasis on computer-integrated manufacturing technology in secondary education programs.

"These initiatives have not only enriched our school community but have also inspired students to explore and excel in STEM fields beyond public education," the district wrote. "The Northport-East Northport UFSD congratulates David Storch on this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to his continued contributions to the field of STEM education and technology."
