Northport HS Junior Wrestler Wins 2nd Straight NYS Championship
Matthew Marlow defeated a wrestler from Wantagh to earn the title.

NORTHPORT, NY — Matthew Marlow, a junior at Northport High School, won his second consecutive Division I New York state championship on Saturday, the Northport-East Northport School District announced.
He defeated Anthony Clem of Wantagh 5-0 to earn the title, according to Flo Wrestling.
With the win, Marlow further cemented his Northport High School athletic legacy, the district wrote.

Earlier in the season, Marlow won several matches before advancing to the 118lb. weight
class finals. He also took home the top spot at the Eastern States Classic in January where he did not surrender a single offensive point.
Marlow is coached by head coach Robert "Thad" Alberti and his father, assistant coach Andrew Marlow.

"Matt's performance this weekend was nothing short of spectacular," Alberti said. "He's a very unique wrestler in his aggressive approach and unwavering commitment to winning. We as a staff are overjoyed that his lifetime commitment is paying off. Matt is a humble athlete and deserves the recognition."
Marlow is expected to become a three-time All-American wrestler this year and he is looking forward to continuing to seek out the top competition in the country to further challenge himself, according to the district.
