Northport HS Varsity Wrestling Wins Championship

The wrestlers are the champions of the Section XI League II championship after defeating Commack. Congratulations!

NORTHPORT, NY — Northport High School’s varsity wrestling team took home the Section XI league II championship on Wednesday with a win over Commack High School, the Northport-East Northport School District announced.

Northport defeated Commack 43-16 under the leadership of coach Robert “Thad” Aliberti. The squad went undefeated in League II and has an overall 15-4 record thus far. This is Northport's fifth league II title in school history.

Moving forward, the team will go on to compete in Section XI playoffs next week and the individual league, county, and state tournaments next month.

Aliberti called the win a "complete team effort" and shared how excited students were to have achieved this win. He also thanked the parents and team booster club for their support.
