Northport HS Wins Long Island Championship In Moot Court

Two Northport teams clashed in the Suffolk Championship, and Northport went on to defeat Massapequa for the Long Island Championship.

NORTHPORT, NY — Northport High School’s Moot Court team was crowned Long Island Champions after a "phenomenal performance in a rigorous competition," the Northport-East Northport School District announced.

In the Suffolk County Tournament, both Northport teams ranked first and second out of 16 teams, creating an unprecedented Northport vs. Northport County Championship.

The winning team then faced the Nassau County powerhouse Massapequa in the Long Island Championship, where they triumphed with "poise, skill and legal expertise," the school district wrote.

Andrew Smith was named best oralist of the tournament.

The winning team members are Smith, Kailey Ciszek, Donovan Fischer, Sabrina Martino, and
Caitlyn Murphy.

The other finalist team members are Claudia Buzzell, Bryan Florio, Anthony Shah and Colin Tuthill.

"A huge thank you to club advisors Bill Slagle and Brandon Karp, and attorney coaches David Lazer, Mark Goidell and former advisor David Scott for their support," the district wrote.
"Congratulations to our champions and all involved—this victory is a testament to their hard work and dedication!"
