Northport, Huntington To Face Off In HS Army/Navy Football Game

The game will also feature performances by Northport high school students and introductions of high-ranking military personnel.

NORTHPORT, NY — Northport and Huntington high schools are set to face off in the third annual High School Army/Navy Football Game at Northport High School on Saturday, the Town of Huntington announced.

The Northport High School Tigers (Navy) will compete against the Huntington High School Blue Devils (Army). Pre-Game events are set to begin at 1 p.m. at Tiger Stadium at Northport High School. The game kick-off is slated to begin promptly at 2 p.m.

The Town of Huntington and Supervisor Ed Smyth’s High School Army/Navy Football Game event is played annually in honor of all veterans from all wars.

Event highlights will include ceremonial coin toss, a patriotic half-time performance by the Northport High School Marching Band, Northport Kick-line/Dance Team performances, introductions of high-ranking military personnel and Army/Navy Recruiting booths featuring armed service members and vehicles.

U.S. Congressman Nick LaLota, a Navy veteran, will represent the U.S. Navy at the game, while Major General Anthony R. Kropp, a Huntington native and Army veteran, will represent the U.S. Army.

The Huntington Veterans Advisory Board will also be present as the events official Color Guard, presenting United States colors.

The day’s events will culminate with Smyth presenting the Town of Huntington Army/Navy Game Veteran Memorial Trophy.
