Northport Man Fighting Cancer For 3rd Time; Restaurant To Host Fundraiser

NORTHPORT, NY — Aidan Fischer, a 23-year-old Northport resident, is fighting cancer for a third time after he relapsed again this winter.

Fischer beat leukemia twice but is now battling it for the third time, Michael Comerchero, a family friend of the Fischers, wrote on Facebook.

People may choose to donate to a GoFundMe for Fischer here. More than $82K has been raised as of Monday.

Comerchero said Fischer is, "without a doubt, one of the kindest, most generous, and certainly, toughest young men out there!"

Fischer was finally able to stop treatments in January, but unfortunately, this winter, the Fischers were told that the leukemia had returned.

"This time, they’ve been told that it is a very rare type of the disease," Comerchero wrote on the GoFundMe page. "They will be trying a different course of treatment this time that will include a bone marrow transplant as well as additional treatments that may only be found out of state. Aidan's in for a fight yet again but as a true testament to his mental toughness."

Miller's Ale House of Commack is set to host a "Give Back" fundraiser to benefit Fischer, where 20 percent of all food and drink sales that day will go to Fischer and his family, Comerchero stated. The event is slated for April 10, all day long.

The event will feature raffles, including a 50/50, sports memorabilia, and a five-night stay in Orlando, Florida, Comerchero said.

"PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE continue to support Aidan in his ongoing fight with cancer!" Comerchero said. "We hope to see everyone at Miller's that Thursday!"
