Northport Man Gets 14 Years For Sexually Assaulting Boy

He was previously sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting his nephew.

A Northport man was sentenced on Friday to 14 years in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting a young boy over a seven-year period, according to Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas.

Jalal Abodalo, 57, was convicted of first-degree sexual conduct against a child on June 21, 2017. He was previously sentenced to 12 to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting his nephew, the DA says.

“[Abodalo] used his relationship with a child and his family to repeatedly and brazenly abuse a child over a seven-year period,” Singas said in a press release. “A brave young survivor stood up to the defendant, who betrayed his trust and subjected him to both physical and emotional abuse by threatening the victim’s mother if the survivor reported Abodalo’s actions. The defendant is being held accountable because of the courage of this young, heroic man.”

According to the DA, Abodalo sexually assaulted the young boy, whom he was related to, at least four times between April 1999 and March 2006 in Nassau County. The boy was between the ages of 3 and 10 at the time of the assaults.

The DA said Abodalo tried to threaten the boy to keep the abuse secret by saying his mother would "get hurt" if he told anyone.
