Northport PD: Skier Tests Frozen Harbor, 2 Drink Beer in Store Without Paying, DWI Arrest

Recent arrests and complaints in the district.

Here are some of the arrests and complaints according to the most recent Northport Police report. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime, but were arrested for the charge below.

Arrests

A Smithtown man was charged with driving while intoxicated on March 2 at 2:51 a.m. on Fort Salonga Road. Police say Daniel Quigley, 28, was stopped for failing to signal and speeding. He was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

A Huntington man, 21, and a Northport man, 18, were arrested on Feb. 27 after drinking beer at the King Kullen on Fort Salonga Road and “passing all points of sale without payment, permission or authority to do so,” according to police. The two were charged with petit larceny.

Police responded to a complaint on Feb. 24 at a home on Okleigh Place, where they had received a report of a dog left out all day in the cold. The homeowner brought the dog inside, and police say no further action was necessary.

Police were on the scene at Northport Harbor on Feb. 28, after receiving a report of a person skiing on the frozen harbor. The skier eventually came to shore, was advised not to go out on the frozen harbor and warned of the hazards associated with such activity.
