Northport Police Blotter: Arrest Made In Hit-And-Run

ALSO: Grand theft reported; lawnmower catches fire; police rescue loose dog; drone flyer receives warning; and more, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from June 16 through June 22.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Smoke was coming from a Whispering Fields Drive home on June 16. A resident was burning yard waste. The resident immediately extinguished the fire and was warned and admonished by police.
  • A dog got loose on Main Street on June 17. An officer was able to retrieve the dog and reunite it with its owner.
  • A person was reportedly flying a drone near Main Street on June 17. The person was flying a
    drone to take wedding pictures. An officer advised the photographer it is against Village Code to fly drones in the village, and the person agreed to cease flying it.
  • A vehicle was blocking a driveway on Ocean Avenue on June 17. An officer issued a summons to the driver.
  • A sick raccoon was reported on Hawkins Drive on June 18. Police euthanized it and disposed of the carcass.
  • A lawnmower caught fire on Terry Road on June 18, police said. Northport firefighters extinguished it.
  • A woman was arrested in connection with leaving the scene of a crash where someone was injured on Laurel Avenue on June 18, police said.
  • An electric line caused a small flame on a utility pole transformer on School Street on June 19. PSEG Long Island extinguished the fire and restored power.
  • A vehicle was blocking the roadway of Bayview Avenue on June 20. A summons was issued to the driver.
  • A motor vehicle crash was reported on Fort Salonga Road around 12:10 p.m. June 20. Northport police remained at the scene until Suffolk police arrived.
  • A grand larceny was reported on Fort Salonga Road around 10:35 a.m. Multiple items were reported stolen, police said.
  • Summonses were issued to the drivers of two vehicles that were blocking a driveway on Bayview Avenue on June 22.
