Northport Police Blotter: Bag With Narcotic Drugs Found On Front Lawn

ALSO: Multiple vehicles became disabled on a flooded road; homeowner reports flood damage; and more, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from March 17 through March 23.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • An officer found a drunken woman at a Mobil gas station on Fort Salonga Road on March 17 — St. Patrick's Day. The officer ordered her an Uber.
  • Loose dogs were reported on James Street on March 18. Officers could not find the dogs.
  • Police were called to Mariners Lane for a report of a sick raccoon on March 18. An officer found the raccoon was not sick and released it into the woods.
  • A man called police when he found a bag of what he believed to be narcotics on the front lawn of his home on March 21. The man said he found a plastic bag with alleged cocaine residue on the front lawn of his residence but does not know how, by whom or when it was misplaced, police said. The clear plastic bag and its contents were recovered by the officer and invoiced at Northport Police Department Headquarters to be destroyed.
  • Multiple people called police to Fort Salonga Road for a man "acting erratic and yelling at passing cars" on March 22. The man told police that he was singing loudly with his headphones on and apologized for any disturbance. The man said he was on his way back home to the VA Hospital.
  • A vehicle became disabled because of flooding on Waterside Avenue on March 23. The vehicle was removed by Rescue Towing. Locust Avenue was then blocked off with cones at both Ocean and Waterside avenues. An officer escorted the driver to Northport Train Station.
  • A second vehicle became disabled because of flooding on Waterside Avenue on March 23. The vehicle was removed by Rescue Towing. Locust Avenue was then blocked off with cones at both Ocean and Waterside avenues.
  • A James Street resident reported flooding in the home on March 23. The Northport Fire Department responded and pumped out the outside basement stairwell.
  • An open manhole was creating a hazard on Waterside Avenue on March 23. An officer secured the manhole cover.
