Northport Police Blotter: Cannabis Sign Removed From Vietnam War Memorial

ALSO: Dead deer found in road; injured deer euthanized; woman overdoses on alcohol; and more, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from July 21 through July 27.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • A sick raccoon was euthanized by police on June Avenue on July 21.
  • A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Kathy Court on July 22.
  • Two boats collided off the shore of Constitution Square on July 23. The boat operator told police that while he was departing the dock, his boat collided with a boat tied to the dock.
  • A woman overdosed on alcohol on Main Street on July 24. Northport Rescue brought her to Huntington Hospital.
  • A motor vehicle collision was reported on Alsace Place on July 24.
  • A dead deer was found on Clancy Drive on July 24. The Northport Highway Department was called to dispose of it.
  • An injured deer was reported on Hawkins Drive on July 25. The deer appeared to have been hit by a vehicle and suffered two broken legs, police said. An officer euthanized the deer, and the Northport Highway Department removed the carcass.
  • A man was issued a ticket for urinating in public at Constitution Square around 11:30 a.m. July 25.
  • A summons was issued to the driver of a blue BMW who parked in a no-parking space, blocking a stairway, on Woodside Avenue on July 25.
  • Multiple trees fell across Northport, blocking roads, on July 25. One tree fell onto a home's garage, causing minor damage.
  • A West Scudder Place resident reported smoke coming from a tree in the back of his neighbor's yard on July 25. The tree was smoking with small flames appearing, an officer said. Northport firefighters extinguished the fire.
  • Someone left the scene of a waterway accident near Bayview Avenue on July 25, police said.
  • A cannabis sign was posted in the Vietnam Memorial on July 26. An officer removed the sign.
  • A deceased animal was found on the road on Norwood Avenue on July 27. An officer disposed of it.
