Northport Police Blotter: Couple Thwarts Fraudulent Activity On Accounts

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from March 31 through April 6.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Someone found a wallet containing a New York state driver's license on April 1. The founder handed it into police headquarters. The wallet's owner was contacted to pick the wallet up.
- A sick raccoon was reported on Scudder Avenue on April 1. An officer euthanized the sick raccoon and disposed of it.
- A dog was found on Turnip Hill Street on April 1. The dog's owner responded to headquarters to pick up her dog.
- A man was issued a ticket instead of being arrested after he displayed a false inspection sticker on Laurel Avenue on April 1, police said.
- A Rutledge Avenue man believes someone tried to break into his vehicle between 6 p.m. April 3 and 9 a.m. April 4.
- Waterside Avenue residents reported fraudulent activity on multiple accounts on April 4. The person said that an unknown person or people accessed their email accounts and phone numbers. The unknown subject then attempted to "Zelle" pay themselves to an unknown account, police said. The residents were able to stop the transfer and reported no financial losses.
- Someone reported what they believed was a dead snake in their Locust Road garden on April 4. Police determined it was a rubber snake.
- A laundry machine began smoking at a laundromat on Scudder Avenue on April 5. The Northport Fire Department responded and put out the small fire in the machine. The landlord and tenant of the property were notified.
- A "suspicious male" was seen walking around Lewis Oliver Farm Sanctuary when the gates were closed to the public around 5 p.m. April 1, police said. The caller said the man appeared to be in his 30s, wearing all black, and carrying a black backpack. When the caller went to speak with the man, he left on foot. The caller was advised to call the police in the future if there is ever anyone trespassing.
- A boy was riding his bicycle in a park at Constitution Square while wearing a ski mask and playing loud music on April 6. The boy was warned and admonished about riding in the park, police said.
- A woman fainted at the John W. Engeman Theater on April 6. Northport Rescue responded, but the woman declined medical attention.
