Northport Police Blotter: Driver Ticketed For Defective Headlamp
ALSO: Police respond to possible overdose; deer, possum euthanized; vehicle blocked road; officer finds missing dog; and more, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from March 3 through March 9.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Police were called to Bluff Point Road at 7:32 a.m. March 3 for construction work being done before the allowed time. An officer spoke with an employee and told him about the village code of when he can start construction work. The employee agreed to wait until the allowed time to resume construction.
- A dog got loose at Cow Harbor Park in Constitution Square on March 3. Police searched the area but could not find the dog.
- A sick possum was reported on Bluff Point Road on March 3. An officer euthanized the possum and disposed of it.
- An injured deer was reported in the roadway of Ocean Avenue on March 3. An officer euthanized the deer and notified the highway department to remove it.
- Police were called to Rowley Drive on March 5 for a man who potentially overdosed. Northport police remained until Suffolk police arrived. Suffolk police took over the call.
- A Lisa Drive resident called police regarding a "suspicious woman" on his property on March 6. The man told an officer that a woman approached his door, tried the door handle, and took a photo of his Amazon package on his porch. He then showed the officer Ring video footage of the woman. The officer who reviewed the footage believes the woman was intoxicated. The officer told the man to contact the department if the woman returns to his home.
- An officer saw a man driving a gold 2006 Toyota Sienna southbound on Reservoir Avenue with a defective passenger-side head lamp around 9:25 p.m. March 6, police said. The officer stopped the driver and found that his driver's license was suspended a total of 12 times in five days. The man was issued summons instead of being arrested.
- A tree fell onto Fort Salonga Road, blocking the roadway on March 7. The New York State Department of Transportation and Northport Village Highway Department responded and cleared the roadway.
- Two black cars were seen speeding on Steers Avenue on March 7. Officers searched but could not find the cars.
- A white vehicle was blocking a driveway on Main Street on March 8. An officer issued the owner of the vehicle a summons.
- A vehicle was parked in the roadway of Woodbine Avenue on March 9. The officer issued the appropriate citations and contacted the registered owner to move the vehicle.
- A black dog got loose on Woodhull Court on March 9. An officer found the dog and returned it to its owner.
- A woman was found sleeping in her car at St. Phillip Neri Church around 1:50 a.m. An officer arranged an Uber ride home for the woman.
