Northport Police Blotter: Injured Deer Euthanized; Youths Modify Trail
ALSO: A man scratched a woman and pushed a teenager in a domestic incident, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Oct. 14 through Oct. 20.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Downed tree limbs fell on wires on June and Fifth avenues on the afternoon of Oct. 14. June Avenue was secured from the public while PSEG LI was called, while on Fifth Avenue, an officer removed the tree limb from the wires.
- A tree fell down across Cherry Street on Oct. 14, making the road impassable. The Northport Highway Department responded and removed the tree.
- Police responded to multiple complaints of youths riding electric dirt bikes and building ramps and performing jumps in the walking/dog trail behind the Presbyterian Church/Seaview Terrace on Oct. 15. An officer met Northport Highway Supervisor Brian Hart to discuss restoring the areas modified by the youths. The Northport Highway Department said it would repair the damaged areas as soon as possible. The police department said it plans to monitor the area and will re-assess if any further steps need to be taken to deter the use of motorized vehicles in the trail.
- A man was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment: physical contact on Oct. 15. The man scratched a woman on her face and pushed a teenager in the head after they tried to intervene, police said. The man drove off but turned himself in on Oct. 16, police said. Patch will not be publishing the name of the defendant to protect the identities of the victims.
- An oil spill was reported in the roadway of Norwood Road on Oct. 16. The driver told police he bottomed out and ruptured his vehicle's oil plug, which led to oil spilling out onto the roadway. Northport firefighters responded and cleared the oil from the roadway. The driver said his Amazon dispatcher had dispatched a tow truck to take away the Amazon truck.
- A Verizon employee was warned and admonished about going door-to-door within the village on Lisa Drive after sunset on Oct. 16.
- Teenagers were warned and admonished for being on the Village Dock in Village Park on Oct. 16.
- An injured deer was reported on James Street on Oct. 18. Police found the deer, which could not stand or move on its own. The deer was euthanized by police, and the highway department was called to remove it.
- Someone found an Apple watch and turned it in to police on Oct. 18. A woman went to claim her watch.
- A dog got loose on Nautilus Avenue on Oct. 18. Police searched but could not find the dog.
- A loose dog was found in a Highland Avenue backyard on Oct. 18. The owner came to retrieve the dog.
