Northport Police Blotter: Man Hops Into Someone's Car Without Permission
The man drove him in circles before telling him to get out of the car, police say. ALSO: Dead raccoon found in road, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Feb. 24 through March 2.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Several calls were made regarding solicitors on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25, but the solicitors were acting lawfully.
- A dead raccoon was found in the roadway of Bayview Avenue on Feb. 28. An officer disposed of the carcass.
- A Woodbine Avenue resident said someone was walking their dog near their property on Feb. 28. The dog owner allowed their dog to defecate on the premises but failed to clean up the waste before leaving. The resident said the issue has been ongoing, as similar incidents with the dog owner have been noted on multiple occasions.
- An injured raccoon was found on Scudder Avenue on March 1. An officer euthanized the raccoon and disposed of it.
- A man reported that another man he does not know tried to enter his vehicle on Main Street on March 2. The man said that a white, bald man wearing a black jacket waved him down and entered the man's vehicle without permission, police said. The man requested a ride home for $100, and the man agreed to drive him home, according to police. After driving the other man around in circles, the car owner stopped the vehicle and asked the man to leave the vehicle, in which he did, the department stated. The officer advised the car owner to lock his vehicle doors and not allow strangers into his vehicle in which he agreed to do. There were no threats or criminality involved, and the car owner wanted to document the incident for informational purposes, police said.
