Northport Police Blotter: Man Issued Bad Check For $2.1K
ALSO: Someone shoved 100 conch traps into the water near Village Dock, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Dec. 30 through Jan. 5.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- A criminal tampering was reported at Northport Village Dock on Dec. 30. Someone said that a person removed 100 conch traps. Investigators determined that someone pushed the traps into the harbor. The person who reported the tampering was able to recover most of the property at that time but had to wait till low tide to recover the rest.
- A man was arrested in connection with issuing a bad check while on Fort Salonga Road on Jan. 2. The man issued a Chase Bank check for $2,160 on Nov. 8 in payment for services provided. The check "bounced" when the employee attempted to cash it on Nov. 12. Multiple attempts were made to contact the subject with no answer. The man was arrested on Jan. 2.
- A summons was issued to the driver of a van that was parked illegally on Laurel Avenue on Jan. 2.
- A man went to police headquarters on Jan. 4 to share that, on three separate occasions between July and November, he's received Amazon gift cards in the mail from an unknown sender. The man said he contacted Amazon and discovered the gift cards are legitimate. The man has not been contacted by anyone who claimed sending the cards but wanted the incident documented.
