Northport Police Blotter: Officers Help Man Who Overdosed; Boat Engine Stolen
ALSO: Deer carcass found in the roadway; used grill coals cause trash can fire; village light pole damaged; and more, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Aug. 4 through Aug. 10.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- A summons was issued to the driver of a vehicle that was illegally parked on Fifth Avenue on Aug. 4.
- Police were called to the marina on Harbour Point Drive around 11:20 p.m. Aug. 4 for a vehicle possibly trying to run over the caller. The caller and driver were arguing about being at the marina late, police said. The driver was issued a summons for speeding and released, police said.
- Two men arguing on Beach Avenue on Aug. 5 began fighting, police said. Both men declined to press charges and left.
- A boat engine was stolen sometime between 3 p.m. Aug. 5 and 7:13 a.m. Aug. 6 on Beach Avenue.
- An injured raccoon was reported on Norwood Avenue on Aug. 6. The raccoon appeared to be sick and had possibly been hit by a vehicle, police said. The raccoon was euthanized and picked up by the Suffolk County Department of Environmental Conservation to test for rabies.
- A village light pole was damaged on Main Street sometime before 11:30 a.m. Aug. 6. Police are investigating.
- Someone found an iPhone and handed it into police headquarters on Aug. 7. The owner came to retrieve their phone.
- Police responded to Ocean Avenue on Aug. 9 for a report of a tree company possibly dumping trees on private property. The man told police that he was stacking cut wood to be picked up later for firewood use.
- A tree fell onto a man's property on Jefferson Avenue sometime before 9 a.m. Aug. 9.
- A trash can caught fire at Constitution Square on Aug. 9. An officer doused the fire. Police said someone dumped used grill coals in the trash can, causing the fire.
- A vehicle was partially blocking the ramp to the village dock for over half an hour on Aug. 9. The owner of the vehicle was issued a summons around 9:40 p.m.
- A German shepherd got loose on Soper Avenue around 10 p.m. Aug. 9. Police could not find the dog.
- A motor vehicle crash was reported on Ocean Avenue around 3:15 p.m. Aug. 10. Northport police waited for backup from Suffolk police.
- A man overdosed on School Street around 7:10 p.m. Aug. 10. Northport Rescue brought the man to Huntington Hospital.
- An injured deer was reported in the roadway of Laurel Avenue on Aug. 10. Officers found the deer deceased and moved it to the side of the roadway. Northport Highway was notified to remove it.
