Northport Police Blotter: Parking Summonses Issued; Loose Dogs

ALSO: A kayaker was warned for not wearing a life jacket; another boater was ticketed for creating an excessive wake, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Sept. 9 through Sept. 15.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • A summons was issued to a boat operator who created an excessive wake in Northport Harbor on Sept. 11 by speeding while boating.
  • A summons was issued to a vehicle parked in a no-parking zone on Bayview Avenue on Sept. 11.
  • A dinghy capsized near Village Dock on Sept. 12.
  • An officer saw a boat owner in a yellow kayak in Northport Harbor not wearing a lifejacket, which violated a law, on Sept. 13. The officer warned and admonished the above boat owner and issued a "Loaner for Life" life jacket from the NYS Parks Department.
  • Dogs got loose on Clairmont Street on Sept. 15, but police officers could not find them.
  • A Short Street resident was asked to stop draining his pool on Sept. 15 and agreed.
  • A summons was issued to the owner of a vehicle parked in a handicap parking space with no sticker or plate in Municipal Lot #1 on Sept. 15.
