Northport Police Blotter: Unleashed Dog's Owner Possessed Cocaine
ALSO: Hit-and-run reported; attempted theft of a Suzuki outboard engine; person stuck in elevator; boat damaged; and more, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from June 23 through June 29.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Someone tried to steal a Suzuki outboard engine on Bluff Point Road on June 23, police said.
- A woman reported her driver's license, NYS Empire Pass and two TD Bank cards missing, police said. She believes she lost her property at Steers Beach on June 20. No fraudulent bank transactions were reported at the time of the report.
- A bat was reported inside a Woodside Avenue home around 12:30 a.m. June 25. Officers searched the home but could not find the bat.
- Police were called to Waterside Avenue on June 25 for a report of property damage from a street sweeper. An employee told police that while he was sweeping the edge of the street, a rock kicked up, causing damage to a vehicle's windshield. The owner did not want a police report and left the scene before police arrived. An officer responded to the owner's home to follow up with the damage.
- A deer was reportedly stuck in a fenced area on Church Street on June 25. Police could not find the deer.
- A man dropped his keys into a storm drain on Main Street on June 25. An officer was able to retrieve the keys for him.
- An ash can caught fire on Main Street on June 26. Northport firefighters doused it.
- A person got stuck in an elevator at the Northport Hotel on June 27. Officers were able to free the person from the elevator.
- A person found someone's dog on the side of the road and brought it to police headquarters on June 27. An officer contacted the Town of Huntington Dog Warden, who responded and took custody of the dog. The dog's owner was arrested in connection with leaving the dog unleashed, as well as possession of cocaine, the Northport Police Department said.
- A motor vehicle crash where a driver left the scene was reported on Bayview Avenue on June 29, police said.
- A boat owner reported damage to his vessel on Beach Avenue on June 29, police said.
