Northport Police Blotter: Woman Charged In Theft At CVS

ALSO: Sign damaged in crash; shotgun ammunition turned in; good Samaritans turn in lost property; and more, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from July 14 through July 20.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • July 14: Nicole Ottaiano, 34, of Lindenhurst, was arrested July 14 in connection with a theft that occurred June 22 at CVS in Northport, Northport police said. Ottaiano was accused of stealing scales, blood pressure cuffs, curling irons, and various makeup items from the store, police said. She was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny: value of property more than $1,000, police said.

Incidents

  • Police were called to a Main Street business on July 14 for a report of a man who is constantly on the shop's property and back parking lot, harassing customers and staff in the process, police said. The shop owner said the man claims to have an easement in the corner of his parking lot. The shop owner said he checked with the village and found the easement does not exist. The officer told the shop owner that it is a civil matter. The officer told the man not to loiter around the business, and he agreed not to.
  • Someone turned old shotgun ammunition into police headquarters on July 14.
  • The State Liquor Authority performed checks at multiple businesses on July 14, July 15 and July 17. No violations were reported.
  • Police admonished youths who were jumping off of the Village Dock and into the water at Constitution Square on July 15.
  • Someone found a wallet on Main Street on July 16 and gave it to police. The wallet's owner collected their property.
  • A sign was damaged when a driver left the scene of a crash on Fort Salonga Road between 10 p.m. July 16 and 10 a.m. July 17, police said.
  • Someone found a credit card in Constitution Square on July 18 and gave it to police. The card's owner collected their property.
  • Debris was reported on the property of a Bayview Avenue homeowner on July 19. An officer observed several large pieces of concrete and debris in front of the caller's bulkhead from his neighbor's construction work. The debris had been on the man's bulkhead for a week at the time of the report.
  • An injured seagull was reported in the back of a Woodbine Avenue home on July 20. The officer could not find the injured bird but asked the homeowner to call back if it returned.
