Northport Police Blotter: Woman Nearly Scammed Out Of $7K
ALSO: A check was reported stolen from an apartment, and a deer was accidentally killed, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from April 8 through April 14.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- A man was unconscious at Crab Meadow Beach on April 8. He regained consciousness by the time police arrived. Northport police waited for Suffolk police to arrive.
- A money scam was reported on Fort Salonga Road on April 9. A woman said she received a phone call from a man who claimed to be a special agent, police said. He told the woman that her daughter was arrested and that she needed to procure $7,000 worth of bail money. A vehicle picked the woman up at her house and drove her to the First National Bank in Northport where she was to withdraw the cash, return to the vehicle, and be transported to New York City, police said. The bank tellers recognized a scam and told police. The woman told police the dark-colored Toyota SUV that she arrived in was still waiting outside for her to return with the money, police said. Officers searched but could not find the car that day. The woman did not sustain any monetary loss and was escorted back to her home.
- A Main Street woman said a check was stolen from her apartment on April 9.
- A sick raccoon was euthanized by police on Belknap Drive on April 10.
- A man was pulled to the ground by his two large dogs in Municipal Lot #1 on April 10. The man suffered injuries and was brought to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue.
- A sick raccoon was euthanized by police on Waterview Lane on April 10.
- A dead deer was found on Laurel Avenue on April 10. A driver told police he was unsure if he hit the deer while it was standing or if he ran it over while it was lying on the ground already. Police moved the deer carcass to the shoulder of the roadway and left a note for the highway department to remove it.
- A Bluff Point Road man reported damage to his dock on April 12. An unfastened vessel collided with his dock and became entangled with the railing causing further damage. Police contacted the boat owner, who said his boat was tied down at the Northport Yacht Club the previous day and likely become unsecured by the heavy winds overnight. The boat owner said he made arrangements to have the boat recovered immediately. The Huntington Harbor Master was also contacted.
- A summons was issued to a vehicle left in Municipal Lot #5 on April 14.
- A woman was injured when she fell on Main Street on April 14. She said she lost her balance because of the grade of the sidewalk. She suffered a small scrap to the right side of her head and was transported to Huntington Hospital by Northport Fire and Rescue.
