Northport Police Blotter: Woman Scammed; Woman Leaves Scene Of Crash
ALSO: Toddler faints at library; loose dog rescued by police; dead bird found in bird bath; man suffers burns while grilling, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from May 19 through May 25.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- A woman told police on May 19 that she received a phone call from a man she did not know who was claiming to be an Apple representative. The caller instructed her to withdraw approximately $2,000 and await further instructions, she told police. The woman said that she gave the unknown caller her Social Security Number and date of birth. The woman's relative intervened and brought her mother to the police station. The woman and her relative were instructed to contact the Social Security Administration and banking institutions, as well as her credit card companies, for proper course of action. The woman suffered no financial loss at this time, police said.
- A motor vehicle crash was reported on Fort Salonga Road around 8 a.m. May 20.
- A sick raccoon was reported on Lewis Road on May 20. Police euthanized the raccoon and disposed of it.
- A driver involved in a motor vehicle collision on Main Street around noon May 20 was taken to Huntington Hospital.
- A dog got loose on Church Street on May 20. An officer found the dog and brought it home.
- A woman was issued a ticket instead of being arrested after she left the scene of a motor vehicle crash that caused an injury on Rutledge Avenue on May 21.
- A 2-year-old girl passed out at Northport Library on May 22. Northport Rescue brought her to Huntington Hospital.
- Police were called to Blydenburgh Court for a report of a dead bird in a bird bath on May 24. An officer removed the bird from the bird bath and disposed of it properly.
- A woman found a bb gun while cleaning out her storage unit on May 25. An officer placed the gun in a bin to be destroyed.
- A driver was ticketed for displaying a fake inspection sticker on May 25.
- An East Northport man suffered first-degree burns to his legs, arms, chest, and face while trying to extinguish a barbecue fire on May 25. Northport Rescue brought him to Stony Brook University Hospital.
- Multiple kids on bikes were reportedly causing damage to the gazebo area in the Northport Village Park on May 25. An officer was able to locate the group of youths and advised them of the park curfew. The kids left without incident. There was no apparent damage to the gazebo or surrounding area, police said.
- A woman suffered a cut to her leg on Scudder Place on May 25. Northport Rescue brought her to Huntington Hospital.
