Northport Police Blotter: Woman Steals Bracelets, Pillow
ALSO: An injured deer was euthanized; officers save a deer trapped in fence; reckless motorcyclist weaves in and out of traffic, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from July 15 through July 21.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- A woman was arrested and issued an appearance ticket after she stole a display pillow with three bracelets valued at $172 from a store on Main Street on July 15, police said.
- A blue motorcycle, possibly a Suzuki GSXR sport bike without a license plate, passed several vehicles on Reservoir Avenue around 9 p.m. July 15, police said. An officer turned on the emergency lights and sirens to try and stop the motorcyclist, but the motorcyclist sped off at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of traffic on Elwood Road. The officer did not attempt to pursue the motorcycle for the safety of the public.
- An officer saw several people fishing on private property next to Steers Beach on July 15. The Northport Marine unit was notified and told the fishers to leave the area and clean up after themselves. The owners of several vehicles in the Steers Beach lot were issued summonses for not having a village beach permit affixed to their vehicles.
- Northport firefighters extinguished an oven fire at a Seaview Avenue home on July 16.
- A woman was found to be in possession of a NYS driver's license while her privilege was revoked by the state. The driver was issued the proper summons on July 18, and her license was seized and mailed back to NYS DMV.
- A dog got loose on Woodbine Avenue on July 18. Officers could not find the dog.
- An injured deer was found on Steers Avenue on July 18. Officers euthanized the deer and disposed of it.
- A woman, 67, tripped on a pothole at the apron entrance into the parking lot of Woodbine Marina and suffered a cut to her upper lip on July 19. Northport Rescue brought her to Huntington Hospital.
- People not wearing life jackets in Northport Harbor, violating a law, were given "Loaner for Life" life jackets from the NYS Parks Department on July 19.
- A deer got stuck in a fence on Ocean Avenue on July 20. Officers rescued the deer from the fence.
- People were trying to dock a boat when it hit another vessel that was already docked at Village Dock on July 20. No one was injured, but the boat that was hit sustained scratches to its hull.
- An injured bird was found on the lawn of Highland Avenue on July 20. The officer was unable to euthanize it. Strong Island Animal Rescue was contacted but could not respond.
