Northport Police Log: Police Find Crystal Meth On Stopped Driver

Monday, Feb. 25

At 7:55 a.m., police responded to the incident location for the report of a male sick. Upon arrival with Northport Rescue, the aided was treated accordingly and transported to the Northport VA Hospital.

At 8:08 a.m., police responded to a location on Maple Avenue to a caller reporting a German Shepherd running loose in the area and gave the above name as the owner. Same was contacted and advised headquarters the dog had jumped the fence but was back inside the residence.

At 3:15 p.m., police responded to Waterside Drive for the report of a child in seizure. Apparently, a child had a seizure while riding in a school bus and the bus pulled over at the above location. SCPD was on scene prior to the undersigned's arrival. NFD Rescue arrived with the undersigned. The child, who was conscious and breathing, was treated accordingly and transported to Huntington Hospital via ambulance.

At 4:24 p.m., police responded to Turnip Hill Street regarding a report of a grease fire in the kitchen. Northport Fire Department responded and did extinguish the fire. Village Administrator did respond and determined the situation was safe.

At 10:24 p.m., police responded to Wilhow Court for a report of an adult female sick. Northport Rescue responded and transported the aided to Huntington Hospital.

Tuesday, Feb. 26

At 4:38 p.m., police responded to Main Street for the report of a female alcohol overdose. Northport Rescue responded and transported the aided to Huntington Hospital.

At 5:46 p.m., police responded to Waterside Drive

for a report of an erratic driver. Upon arrival with Suffolk County Unit #216, the undersigned provided assistance unit further Suffolk County Units arrived.

At 6:00 p.m., police responded to Sea Cove Road for the report of two male solicitors.

At 7 p.m., police responded to Highland Avenue for the report of

three males walking in the area. Undersigned spoke with the males who were indeed Verizon workers doing service calls.

At 9:45 p.m., police responded to Church Street for a report of a low hanging wire. Upon arrival undersigned was able to correct the situation.

Wednesday, Feb. 27

At 1:44 a.m., while on patrol undersigned did observe the above vehicle, a 2000 Toyota color black, traveling Westbound on Fort Salonga Road with a headlight out. Undersigned initiated a traffic stop and a subsequent DMV registration check revealed the plates affixed to the vehicle bearing were registered to another vehicle. Said plates were seized and sent to Driver Improvement Bureau along with a copy of this report. Scan of items uploaded to this module. The driver was James Gilchrist (pictured above). Police said he was found to possess a pipe with a residue believed to be methamphetamine, two ziplock bags containing crystal meth and 3 hypodermic needles - two that contained a substance believed to be meth.

At 3:12 p.m., police responded to Maple Circle for a report of a female suffering injuries from a fall. Upon arrival the aided complained of facial and neck pain. Northport rescue responded and transported the aided to Huntington Hospital.

At 5:43 p.m., police responded to Main Street to a report of a male subject asking to use the homeowners bathroom. On arrival, the complainant reports that male subject asked if he could use her bathroom. The complainant states the male subject identified himself as an employee for Verizon. The complainant refused to allow said subject to use the bathroom and he left without incident. Undersigned canvassed the area with negative results.

At 8:08 p.m., police responded to Lewis Road to a report with two male subjects arguing. On arrival, undersigned located the two male subjects arguing on the roadway. The owner operator of the uber service reports that the picked up listed subject at JFK airport and returned him to his residence where refused to pay the fare. The subject eventually paid the fare without further incident.

Thursday, Feb. 28

At 12:27 p.m., police responded to Ripley Drive for the report of a house fire. Upon arrival, the house was empty and fully engulfed in flames.

Friday, March 1

At 5:29 p.m., police responded to Earl Avenue for a report of female with chest pains. Upon arrival with Northport Rescue the aided was transported to Huntington Hospital.

At 7:35 p.m., police responded to the report of a suspicious male knocking on the door then running away. The undersigned canvassed the area with negative results. No further police action taken.

Saturday, March 2

At 9:15 a.m., police responded to Chestnut Circle to assist subject back into a chair. Northport Fire Department also responded but the subject refused any medical attention.

At 7:07 p.m., police responded to Fort Salonga Road for the report of a possible intoxicated driver swerving all over the road.

At 9:17 p.m., police responded to Fort Salonga Road for a report of a male unconscious. Northport Rescue responded and transported the aided to Huntington Hospital.

Sunday, March 3

At 10:49 p.m., police responded to Main Street for the report of a domestic incident. Upon arrival, the undersigned interviewed both parties. The complainant stated that the subject had been drinking and they got into a verbal argument she felt was escalating so she called the police. The complainant was satisfied with the subject agreeing to sleep on the couch for the night.

At 11:49 p.m., police responded to Bayview Drive to the incident location for a report of loud music. Upon arrival, the undersigned spoke with the listed subject who agreed to turn down the music. The subject was warned and admonished.
