Northport Police Report: Arrested After Crashing into Robke's

The following was taken from the Northport Police Department crime blotter. An arrest does not indicate a conviction as all persons are presumed innocent until, and if, proven guilty in a court of law.

• Douglas Casey, 26, of Northport was arrested on March 3 around 5 a.m. and charged with DWI and aggravated DWI. Casey was allegedly found by police in passed out in his car after he had crashed into Robke's Country Inn on Fort Salonga Road. The engine was running with the gear selector in drive and Casey sitting behind the wheel. When asked to exit he was allegedly unable to communicate effectively, he performed poorly on several field tests, his movements were uncoordinated and his breath smelled of alcohol. He was arrested, transported to headquarters, submitted to an intoxilyzer, and held for arraignment.

• Police responded to Lisa Drive on Feb. 28 regarding a report of strange mechanical noise in the caller's residence. Upon arrival, the undersigned determined it to be the bathroom ceiling fan which was able to be switched off.

• A Laurel Street man stated on March 2 that he and a friend were consuming alcoholic beverages all day, and when the subjects returned to the location a dispute escalated into the offender alleged punching the complainant in the ear.

• Police responded to Seaview Avenue on March 2 for a report of a petty larceny. The officer spoke with the complainant who stated that someone broke into his unlocked BMW and stole an iPod.

• A number of cars were broken into along Scudder Avenue on March 3. Someone took a bag containing $2200 in cash, $1800 in credit cards and a NY drivers license from a Jeep. A cell phone was taken from a Saturn, a GPS and gift cards were stolen from a Toyota, and a GPS was also stolen from a Cherokee. All cars were unlocked, according to police.

• Police responded to Main Street on March 4 for a report of a road rage. The incident started on Maplewood in East Northport and ended in the parking lot of the TD Bank on Fort Salonga Road. The complainant stated that the above a man got out of his car yelling at him then broke the passenger side mirror off the car. The subject then got in his car and left. The subject declined to press charges.
