Northport Police Report: Attack of the Green Light; Harassment

Incidents and arrests, March 29 to April 3.

The following incidents and arrests were reported by the Northport Police Department between March 29 and April 3.

  • A man reported that someone was shining a green light into his vehicle on April 3 while he was parked at Northport Starbucks. The light showed up again when he went to leave the parking lot and was traveling east bound on Fort Salonga Road. The light appeared to be some type of green laser that illuminated the inside of the vehicle. The man provided a Google map with a possible location for the origin of the light. The light appeared to be coming from a Soper Avenue home, but the homeowners could not be contacted.
  • Robert Farabaugh, 47, of Northport was issued an appearance ticket in lieu of arrest on April 3 and charged with second degree harassment.
  • Police responded to Main Street on March 29 for the report of pan handlers playing music. Upon arrival the subjects were not pan handling and the music was at an appropriate level.
  • Police again responded to Main Street on March 29 for the report of loud music. Upon arrival, the band told police they were done for the evening.
  • Police responded to Fort Salonga Road on March 30 for an intoxicated male with injuries from a fall. Upon arrival, the officer observed an intoxicated male sitting in the parking lot bleeding from the finger. Northport Rescue responded and transported the aided to Huntington Hospital.
  • Police responded to Main Street on April 1 for the report of a found dog. Upon arrival, the dog's owner was located and "Daisy" returned.
  • Police responded to Main Street on April 3 regarding the report of a white Cadillac Escalade colliding with two parked cars and leaving the scene.
