The following was taken from the Northport Police Department crime blotter. An arrest does not indicate a conviction as all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Kandice Seitz, 45, of Roslyn Harbor was arrested at 12:38 a.m. on Oct. 11 on Woodbine Avenue and charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, DWI-BAC, and failure to stop at a stop sign.
Northport Police were advised that there was a reported possible drunk driver driving erratically up Laurel Avenue. The officer observed the car on Main Street and followed it for a short distance. Seitz allegedly failed to stop at the stop sign on Woodbine Avenue at Fifth Avenue and the car was subsequently stopped by the officer.

Upon interview, Seitz allegedly had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and slow and uncoordinated movements. She also had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. She had difficulty locating her driver's license in her purse and was unable to produce the vehicle registration. When asked where she was coming from, the defendant paused for a long period of time and finally stated, "I'm in trouble, huh? Cause I drank too much."
When asked to exit the vehicle, Seitz was allegedly unsteady on her feet. She performed poorly on several field sobriety tests to include an alcohol prescreening device which revealed a .10 BAC with an insufficient sample as she was allegedly attempting to circumvent the device. Seitz was then placed under arrest and transported to Northport Police Headquarters where an Intoxilyzer examination was administered revealing a .19 BAC reading. She was processed and held pending arraignment.

An officer responded to Scudder Ave. for a report of a hit and run with property damage on Oct. 16. The car owner stated that on the prior date on Woodbine Avenue his or her car was struck by an unknown car which left the scene. A note was left on the owner's vehicle by a witness stating that a grey or black Jeep with a partial New York plate of LLP was the offending vehicle. Incident not investigated at the time or place of occurrence, Case referred to detective Hayes.

A woman told police on Oct. 16 that her neighbor on Main Street is actively trapping raccoons and she fears that they are being kept in the cage too long. An officer spoke with the man and told him that there was currently a raccoon in the cage and that it needed to be released. The subject did transport the animal to a wooded area where it was released unharmed. Subject was also advised to contact a licensed pest removal service to deal with situation should he continue to have problems with raccoons at the location.

A witness reported two male subjects removing the copper tops off of the pylons downtown on Oct. 18 around 5 a.m. Upon arrival, an officer observed a copper top torn off of a pylon and another one pried half off.
