Northport Police Report: Stolen iPod, Car Fire

Incidents and arrests, March 8-13.

The following was taken from the Northport Police crime blotter. An arrest does not indicate a conviction, as all persons are presumed innocent until, and if, proven guilty in a court of law.

  • An unknown person entered an unlocked Jeep on March 9 on Burr Avenue and stole an iPod.
  • Police responded to Fort Salonga Road on March 11 to a report of ATVs racing on roadway. Upon arrival, the officer observed two male subjects operating loud gas-powered remote control cars in the parking lot at above location. There were no ATVs in the area.
  • Police responded to Okleigh Place on March 12 for a report of a vehicle on fire. Upon arrival with Northport Fire Department, the fire was extinguished. The cause of the fire appeared to be electrical. There did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances involved, confirmed by Northport Fire Department.
  • Police responded to Burt Avenue on March 12 for a report of boxes of belongings on the front lawn. Upon arrival, the resident stated he had bought the house about five months prior and an unknown subject had left multiple boxes of photos and memorabilia by his front door. The boxes of photos and memorabilia belong to the family of the previous owners. It appears an unknown relative of the previous owner dropped off the material, unaware that the resident had moved. Several attempts were made to attempt to contact the old owner, unsuccessfully.
