Northport Students Excel In Magnetic Levitation
The competition required students to compete with their own constructed magnetic levitation vehicles.
Students from Northport Middle School recently secured multiple high placements during the MagLev Competition at the Cradle of Aviation Museum. This competition, which was created by Brookhaven National Laboratories, required students to compete with their own constructed magnetic levitation vehicles. Different categories of competition included self-propelled, electric, futuristic and more.
Each vehicle was judged on soundness of construction and performance. Additionally, placement was also determined by their final comprehensive design portfolio.
Winning students included first place winners Colby Burns and Hunter Rumpel, second place winners Connor Maltese and David Washko, and third place winners Eric Craft, Cody Goldner, and Carter Moores.
