The Perles Family's Halloween Bake Sale Tradition

Stop by Kalmia Street in East Northport on Halloween for some fresh baked goodies. All proceeds go to the Northport Food Pantry.

The Perles sisters are once again holding a Halloween bake sale outside their East Northport home to raise funds for the Northport Food Pantry.

The sisters— Dylan, 20, Zoe, 18 and Kyra, 13— have raised around $12,000 for the local organization. This will be their fourteenth annual event.

"Getting ready for our bake sale is how I have celebrated the holiday my whole life," Kyra told Patch. "Sure, dressing up and eating candy is fun, but to me Halloween has always mostly been about helping others."

  • Where: 39 Kalmia St.
  • When: Wednesday (Halloween) from 3 p.m. until supplies run out (rain or shine)
  • What kind of treats will be at the bake sale? There will be cupcakes, hot chocolate, hot cider and coffee, brownies, cookies, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cranberry bread and plenty more.

The bake sale began in 2005 when 7-year-old Dylan Perles decided she wanted to raise money for people in need. Zoe was five at the time and Kyra was born that year.

"Our Halloween bake sale has become a real community event with hundreds of people participating each year," Kyra said. "This year I have assumed more of a leadership role because now both of my sisters are away at college. And the good news is that Dylan and Zoe are actually coming home in the final days before Halloween to help too!"
