Police Log: Abandoned Rooster, Marijuana Arrest
Excerpts from the Northport Police Department log.

Monday, Feb. 18
At 5:42 a.m., police responded to a location on Fort Salonga Road for a report of a male unconscious in a vehicle. Northport Rescue responded and transported the aided to Huntington Hospital.
At 3:16 p.m., police responded to a report of a rooster left at the farm by an unknown subject. Upon arrival, the employee who is a volunteer at the location, stated that in addition to the rooster, two chickens were also left at the farm last week. One of the chickens ended up being attacked by a natural predator and died. The employee requested extra patrol from this agency and stated that the volunteers for the farm had begun the process to have surveillance cameras installed on their property.

Tuesday, Feb. 19
At 2:17 a.m., police responded to Metro Mart for a report of an adult male harassing customers. Undersigned remained on scene until sufficient SCPD units arrived.

At 10:38 a.m., police responded to the First Presbyterian Church parking lot to a report of a black pickup truck parked in the lot for days. Upon arrival it was determined the owner had been in an accident and transported to the hospital. The complainant was advised and satisfied.
At 1:06 p.m., police responded to North Road for a report of two male walking in the woods. Complainant stated she believed they were hunting deer with a bow. Undersigned did interview subject and it appeared he was looking through the woods for antlers but was not hunting. Undersigned did observe that he had a walking stick and not a bow. Subject advised to refrain from walking in those woods as it was someone's property. Subject departed area.
At 1:36 p.m., an anonymous person responded to Headquarters to report finding a wallet on Fort Salonga road. Headquarters did contact the owner who stated she would be in tomorrow to reclaim her property. Property placed in temporary bin.
At 9:47, police responded to Woodhull Place for an unknown person possibly attempting to make entry at the above residence. Upon arrival undersigned interviewed the above complaint who states she saw her motion light go on and a man walk by her window. She then heard someone attempt to open her side door. Complainant was unable to provide a description of the subject and she did not report any damage to her property nor did the subject ever gain entry. Undersigned officers canvassed the complainant's yard as well as several surrounding properties but were unable to locate anyone.
Wednesday, Feb. 20
At 11:46 a.m., police responded to Norwood Avenue for the report of a female heart attack. Northport Rescue responded and transported the aided to Huntington Hospital.
At 10:24, police responded to Norwood Avenue for the report of a leaving the scene of an incident.
Thursday, Feb. 21
At 10:54 p.m., police responded to Scudder Park for a female yelling in the woods. Upon arrival the listed female stated she needed a ride home but did not have money to pay for a cab. The undersigned officers escorted the female home. No further police action necessary.
Friday, Feb. 22
At 10:50 a.m., an officer was flagged down on Clipper Drive
by the complainant's son for the report of elderly female conscious but unresponsive. Northport Rescue responded and transported the aided to Huntington Hospital.
At 11:12 p.m., police arrested Marvin M. Canales on Vernon Valley Road for possession of a forged instrument and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Saturday, Feb. 23
At 10:40 p.m., police responded to Scudder Avenue for a report of intoxicated female trying to drive. Undersigned advised the female that it would be a poor life decision to operate a motor vehicle. Undersigned assisted the subject in ordering an Uber and remained on scene until it arrived.
