Police Log: Child Hits Head On Concrete, Man Replaces Political Sign

Monday, Oct. 16

A 53-year-old Oceanport man was arrested for driving his vehicle on a suspended license on Bluff Point Road. He was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

At 10:47 a.m., police received a report on Main Street that a man was receiving multiple unwanted phone calls and emails from his ex-wife. The man said he blocked her on all communication devices and she was still attempting to contact him through third party individuals.

At 4:39 p.m., police received a report of an unruly person causing a disturbance in the Northport Library, located on Laurel Avenue. Officers arrived to the library to learn the person left the location without incident.

Friday, Oct. 20

At 2:24 a.m., a 20-year-old Huntington man was arrested for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after he was found to possess cocaine on Fort Salonga Road.

Saturday, Oct. 21

At 11:28 a.m., police say a child suffered a head injury from falling off a chain link fence and hitting his head on the concrete at Steers Park. The boy's father told police the child was climbing on the fence that separated the ball field from the parking lot when he got his foot caught in the fence. The child was taken to Huntington Hospital. Police say there did not appear to be any defects with the fence.

At 1:39 p.m., police received a report of a man in a 2005 Mercedes Benz removing Orelli (a democrat) political signs and replacing them with Clark (a republican) signs on Fort Salonga Road. Police responded to the car owner’s home and spoke with his wife, who said he was not home. The man later responded to police headquarters and apologized. He said he became mad because someone moved the signs he had previously placed out.

At 9:41 p.m., police received a report of a possible intoxicated driver who was driving all over the road on Reservoir Avenue in a black vehicle. Officers searched the area and could not locate the vehicle.

At 10:41 p.m., a 51-year-old Northport man was arrested for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Fifth Avenue. He was found to possess a clear zip lock bag containing a white powder that field tested for cocaine, police say.
