Police Log: Deer Stuck In Hammock, Driver Takes Pictures Of Children

Monday, Sept. 25
At 4:46 p.m., police received a report of a suspicious event in which two empty pizza boxes were left on the front steps of a Hawkins Drive home with a note that said to throw out their garbage left on the beach. The caller told police that she never goes to the beach and wanted to file a complaint for information purposes.

At 5:11 p.m., police responded to a Waterside Avenue location for the report of a deer stuck in a hammock. The deer was able to get loose from the hammock on its own upon police arrival.

At 12:15 p.m., police responded to the report of an erratic driver who was operating a large truck on Church Street. The driver told police it was his third day driving the truck and was told by his supervisor to drive in the center of the road so he doesn't strike any low hanging electrical wires.
At 6:53 p.m., police received a report of a woman taking pictures of children from her vehicle on Burr Avenue. Police say the children were riding their bicycles when a silver SUV stopped and the woman operating the vehicle took pictures of the children with a cell phone and drove away southbound on Burr Avenue. Police searched the area and could not locate the vehicle.
Thursday, Sept. 28
At 12:19 a.m., Bruce Maguire, 54, of Greenlawn, was arrested for DWI and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation after he was pulled over for an improper lane change on Woodbine Avenue.

At 8:31 a.m., police received a report of a suspicious man knocking on the front door of a Laurel Avenue home. Police say the man was looking for 101 Laurel Avenue. The caller thought this was strange because there is no 101 Laurel Avenue. Officers were unable to locate the man.
Friday, Sept. 29
At 10:30 p.m., a 29-year-old Northport man was arrested on Scudder Avenue on an active bench warrant and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (1 Lorezapam pill).
