Police Log: Drunk Driver Hits Parked Car, Road Rage Incident

Monday, Oct. 23

At 11:46 p.m., police received a report of a man walking with wet pants on Ocean Avenue. Officers interviewed the man, who said he had trouble with his boat and needed a ride to the marina.

At 7:26 a.m., police responded to an Earl Avenue location for a report of an opossum with a trap stuck on its leg. The animal was freed from the trap.

At 7:20 p.m., police responded to a road rage incident where a motorcyclist claimed a pickup truck hit him after he made a left turn on Fort Salonga Road. The pickup driver, however, said the motorcycle cut him off and their vehicles never touched. There was no sign of a collision and an accident report was not filed.

At 10:01 p.m., police responded to a Waterside Avenue location for a possible missing person. A woman told police her son was supposed to come home at 7:30 p.m. and she hasn't heard from him, which is out of the ordinary. The son came home at 11:30 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 27

At 5:09 p.m., police received a complaint that youths were ducking behind cars and possibly causing mischief on Main Street. Officers responded to the location but could not locate the youths.

Sunday, Oct. 29

At 12:48 p.m., police received a report of an intoxicated man trying to get into his vehicle after leaving a restaurant on Main Street. Officers spoke to the man and determined he was in need of medical attention. He was transported to Huntington Hospital by Northport Fire and Rescue.

At 7:33 p.m., police responded to a report of a possible drink driver. A witness told police the driver of a white Jeep Cherokee struck a parked vehicle on Norwood Avenue and Center Street and left the scene. Officers located and stopped the vehicle on Waterside Avenue and Fort Salonga Road. Read more about the arrest here.
