Police Log: Telephone Pole Falls On Car, Forgetful Man Reports 'Stolen' Car

Wednesday, July 12
At 10 a.m., Nelson Martins, 38, of East Northport, was arrested and charged with DWI on Fort Salonga Road.

At 11:44 a.m., police responded to the Posey School of Dance on Main Street for a report of a child with her foot stuck in a chair. An officer and Northport Rescue were able to remove the child's foot. The child's parent responded and refused further medical treatment as the child's foot appeared uninjured.
At 8:30 p.m., police responded to a Hawkins Drive location for the report of people on private beach property refusing to leave. Police responded to the scene and the group dispersed and left the area. No further action was taken.

Wednesday, July 19
At 8:07 a.m., police reported criminal mischief in which someone damaged the gazebo sound boards at Constitution Square in Village Park, causing $250 in damage.
Thursday, July 20
At 9:56 p.m., officers responded to a northern area of Northport Bay for a report of a vessel in distress. The vessel was found disabled with occupants on board. Officials secured the boat and towed it to a safe harbor.
Friday, July 21
At 5:11 p.m., police responded to a report of a vehicle leaving the scene after striking another vehicle in the CVS lot on Fort Salonga Road.
At 10:03 p.m., police received a report of a boat accident that occurred in Northport Harbor. Upon arrival, the Huntington Harbormaster and Suffolk County Police Marine unit were handling the incident. No further action was necessary.
Saturday, July 22
At 1:05 p.m., police received a report for a possible stolen vehicle in a municipal lot on Woodbine Avenue. Officers determined the registered owner had parked the vehicle in a different lot and forgot he had parked it there.
Sunday, July 22
At 3:35 p.m., an employee at John Engeman Theater entered police headquarters to report that a telephone pole near the theater appeared to be leaning. The pole was found to be leaning toward the roadway and it gave way shortly after police arrived to the scene, landing on top of a vehicle and causing damage. Officers remained at the scene until PSEF completed their work.
