NORTHPORT, NY — Carmela and Mona Lisa, 6-month-old bonded sisters, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week.

"When these two sweet girls were rescued with their three siblings, they lived in a crowded motel room until we were contacted," said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue.

The five felines went into foster care together.

"They were the sweetest litter, allowing everything from belly rubs to rubbing their little toes," Wild said. "Carmela and Mona Lisa were the most bonded of the group, where there was one, there was the other. Cuddling and sleeping together and playing side by side."

Their siblings have all since been adopted, but Carmela and Mona Lisa are waiting, Wild said. They are currently at Petco Commack.

"When our volunteers come, they get so excited to come out and play!" Wild said. "Once they get their energy out, all they want is to be held, hugged, and kissed. They have been waiting so patiently for their home, but sadly they are spending their kittenhoods in a habitat. If you are looking for the perfect pair, these are your girls. Please help us get them adopted. So far in their short little lives, they went from the streets to a motel, to a rescue. We want them to finally know what it feels like to have the warmth, love, and security of a home."

They are spayed, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
