Fire Ignites at E. Northport Auto Body Shop
A fire broke out Friday at Russo Brothers Auto Collision shop on Jericho Turnpike on the border of Commack and East Northport. The Commack Fire Department responded to the scene. The fire was contained to the spray booth, where sprinklers were set off and controlled the blaze.
Citgo to Open at Former Shell Station
A Citgo gas station will soon take over the former Shell business in East Northport at the corner of Elwood Road and Jericho Turnpike.
Shell closed abruptly last November when Superstorm Sandy struck. The business was boarded up and left closed ever since, but new signage and shiny, new tanks are now in place.
Powered Up at Northport Village Dock
Upgrades to the Northport Dock electrical system are complete, Village Trustee Damon McMullen said at a board meeting Tuesday night.
The dock's electrical outlets were destroyed when Hurricane Sandy caused record storm surges, and had since been out of commission. The Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) is reimbursing 90 percent of the project’s $80,000 cost to the Village.

Police: Drunken Northport Woman Seriously Injures Passenger
A Northport woman was arrested Thursday after police said she was driving while intoxicated after her passenger was seriously injured in a crash in Centerport early that morning.
According to Suffolk County police, Elizabeth Damilatis was driving a 2011 Volvo SUV westbound on East Main Street when she lost control of her vehicle, which struck a utility pole on the north side of road in front of 375 East Main St. at 3:51 a.m.
The passenger in the SUV, Thomas Martin, 36, of Huntington, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
