Women Steal $1.5K During Sleight Of Hand Scheme At East Northport Stop & Shop: PD

Two women conducted a wire transfer for $2,500 and distracted an employee while taking money back from the stack, police say.

EAST NORTHPORT, NY — Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is seeking the public's help finding the two women who, police said, stole money during a sleight-of-hand scheme at an East Northport grocery store.

Two women conducted a Western Union wire transfer for $2,500 at Stop and Shop, at 3126 East Jericho Turnpike, around 5:50 p.m. March 18, police said. The women then asked the employee multiple times to recount the money and caused distractions which caused the employee to look away, during which time, the women took back $1,500 from the stack of money, police said. The women are wanted for grand larceny.

Police ask anyone with information to reach Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and leave an anonymous tip via phone call at 1-800-220-TIPS, using a mobile app which can be downloaded through the App Store or Google Play by searching P3 Tips, or online at www.P3Tips.com. A cash reward is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
