Hudson Valley Jobless Rates Below State Average

In the Hudson Valley, the number of non-farm jobs rose 6.1 percent over August 2020.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Local counties continued to have lower joblessness than New York State as a whole, where the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased from 7.6 percent in July to 7.4 percent in August 2021.

Unemployment rates for August:

  • Dutchess: 5 percent
  • Orange 5.2
  • Putnam 4.7
  • Rockland 5
  • Ulster 5.1
  • Westchester 5.3

In the Hudson Valley, the number of non-farm jobs rose 6.1 percent year over year. As across the state, metro-area unemployment rates were down significantly from August 2020:
