Hudson Valley's Metro Areas Show Mixed Results In Private Job Creation
The New York State economy added 19,100 private sector jobs in March.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The number of private sector jobs rose in the Hudson Valley as a whole over the past year, as a dip in the Dutchess-Putnam county metro area was offset by growth elsewhere, particularly in the Kingston metro-area.
According to New York labor statistics:

Month-to-month, New York outpaced the U.S. as a whole in the number of private sector jobs added over the year in March, rising by 3.2 percent above February, compared to the 2.8 percent increase in the number of private sector jobs overall nationwide.

The job market remained tight. New York City’s unemployment rate held constant at 5.4 percent, while elsewhere in the state the unemployment rate decreased slightly to 3.1 percent.
The number of unemployed New Yorkers decreased over the month by 9,700, from 401,300 in February to 391,600 in March.
